THORACIC AORTIC DISEASE
ADULT CARDIAC SURGERY
UAB performs complex thoracic aortic procedures for acute and chronic disease of the thoracic aorta. Open
and endovascular techniques are utilized to treat patients with diseases involving all segments of the aorta,
from the aortic root to the thoracoabdominal aorta. Cardiothoracic surgeons partner with interventional vascular
surgeons to perform those procedures that require an endovascular approach for treatment. UAB is one of the
few medical centers that offers minimally invasive ascending aortic repair/replacement.
