CENTER FOR VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS IN MUNSTER A UNIQUE WEDDING DESTINATION By Philip Potempa
After opening with a grand dedication in June 1989 , the Center for Visual and Performing Arts at 1040 Ridge Road in Munster , Ind . quickly earned the title it still enjoys today as “ the Gem of Northwest Indiana .”
“ There ’ s no other place to host a wedding and event in these same surroundings filled with art , music , and theater paired with custom cuisine menus and a priority on details , service , and affordability , to make the experience unmatched ,” said Christine Carbonare , senior event planner for The Center for Visual and Performing Arts .
The multi-purpose facility built by Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana , Inc . to support the cultural and educational needs of the area is a 72,660-square-foot space providing services for meetings , seminars , banquets , weddings , dinners , theater and fine arts . An elegant dining room can accommodate up to 500 guests or be divided for smaller parties . Other unique space options are available , including smaller rooms to accommodate private parties and business meetings .
“ Guests love the design of the building , including our large atrium lobby connecting to the art galleries , and the many areas we have for perfect photo opportunities , such as our fountain and our new Woodside Terrace , which was completed in 2016 and
is an ideal landscaped setting for outdoor weddings with a view overlooking the neighboring wooded nature ,” Carbonare said .
Throughout the decades , Carbonare and her staff have worked with Chef Joseph Trama to plan delicious and creative menus for guests to fit every need , theme and price point .
“ Chef Trama has been with our facility since it first opened and he also provides many added special touches , such as his custom-created ice sculptures ,” she said , noting options such as a $ 39 per person price which includes a four-course meal , a complimentary champagne toast for guests and four hours of open bar , all without any building rental fee .
She said other favorite reasons the facility is known as “ the Gem of Northwest Indiana ” is because of the elegant bridal dressing room and added options such as valet service available creating a distinguished reputation built on exceptional service .
“ Our best endorsements come from the families and friends who continue to come back to host and celebrate future special occasions in our unique space because they know these surroundings and the attention to service and detail will add to the cherished memory of their day ,” Carbonare said .
