SHANE CLEMINSON PHOTOGRAPHY S P OT L I G H T A brief overview of my business: Photography was a hobby for many years. 18 years ago it became a part time job, and for the last several years my full time job. The awesome thing is that I love it even more and it still remains a hobby in my spare time with personal projects. I am always learning and growing. What advice would you give brides on choosing a photographer for their big day? Meet your photographer - They are going to be with you nearly all day and you want to know they have the kind of personality, style and work ethic you want. Know Your Price Range - Cheap wedding photography is not always good and good wedding photography is not cheap. Look at a complete wedding (or two) - Ask to see an entire wedding that includes all aspects of the wedding from getting ready to the reception images. Make sure the images you see are actually theirs and not stolen “samples” of their work. This is so common in the digital age. Get real reviews - Ask your venue manager, look at reputable wedding sites, talk to your DJ and other vendors about who they have worked with. What sets your company apart from similar businesses in the area? Experience - I have photographed and filmed over 700 weddings in several states and a few countries. I have worked for magazines, photographic wildlife safari companies in Africa, newspapers, sports publications and the world's largest sailing magazine over the years. All this experience comes to every wedding I photograph. Personal Service - Clients meet with me, get my cell number and I make myself available for advice on timelines and logistics. Adaptability - I have shot weddings in rain, near hurricane winds and managed formals in ten minutes in snow after the Limo got lost. I don’t stress, I adapt and I love the challenge. Make sure your photographer has backup gear, and shooters if a mishap occurs.
