Education :

Do Try This At Home

“ A child educated only at school is an uneducated child .”
– George Santayana
Education is essential to the growth and development of children . The process of education is initiated at birth by parents . Once a child is enrolled into the formal education system , parents become partners with teachers and administrators . It does not become the sole responsibility of schools to educate children . That responsibility always rests with parents . For this reason it is critical for parents to ensure that children receive the highest quality education .
Whether public or private , all school systems are not created equal . This is especially true in urban or economically distressed areas . One major factor is funding . Public schools are funded by federal , state and local contributions . Depending on how the funds are allocated , there is often disparity in the quality of schools due to funding issues . Other factors , such as attendance and household income also impact funding for public schools . Private schools are tuition based . Most lowincome households do not have access to private schools , unless they are granted scholarships .
Regardless of the quality or budget of the school system , there are creative ways to make sure that your children are properly educated .
