There ’ s a question that I always like to ask various artists that I interview because the history of hip-hop is fascinating to me . I love to hear about when people fell in love with hip-hop . Can you tell me when you fell in love with hip-hop ?
Aww man , I fell in love with hip-hop since I was a kid . A little , little kid , 4 th or 5 th grade .
Do you remember what song it was that you fell in love with ?
For me , it was when the Fat Boys were singing with The Beach Boys on Wipe Out , and then from there I jumped to NWA , KRS- One , Public Enemy , and the rest is history .
Yeah ! I don ’ t remember the exact song . I ’ m so absorbed in the culture . I used to dance before I was an emcee , etc . I was in the background dancing like Tupac . Before he blew up , he was dancing for Digital Underground . Treach was dancing behind Queen Latifah . Sean Puffy Combs , he used to dance for various groups and stuff in their videos . I just grew up in hip-hop . For as long as I could remember , I was always involved with hip-hop , graffiti , and the dress code . I wasn ’ t an ill graffiti artist , but I dibbled and dabbled with the whole culture of hip-hop . But dancing and being on the microphone was my true calling and passion .
It was an entire movement . Growing up the way you did , hip-hop was so new . Had you expected it to be at the level that it ’ s at now ?
I mean really , who did ? I just enjoyed the originality of it . The organic aspect of it . Before , it was about making a hit . It
