AFTERSCHOOL ENRICHMENT CLASSES J KIDS EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION CHILDREN & YOUTH Manic Mondays J-Care After-School Program | Grade K - 5 1st Monday of each month, 7 – 9 am Muffins on the run! Monday mornings can be busy. Parents are the ones who typically skip their breakfast. Start your week off right, enjoy a bite to eat with the ECE directors on the 1st Monday of every month beginning January 8th. We will be located in the ECE Mini Museum with muffins, fruit, and coffee to go. J-Care is a licensed program that offers enriching after-school activities. We offer low child-to-counselor ratios, homework help, and provide bus transportation directly from schools with one to five day pick up options. Mondays – Fridays, Dismissal time – 6 pm Very Important Produce (VIP) Exposition Homework Help Hangout 3rd Friday of each month, 4 – 5:30 pm A fun way to connect home and school, grab a snack and open up dialogue surrounding colorful foods. The recipe is usually simple and available to take home and try in your own kitchens! Remember it sometimes takes 10 tries before a child decides they like a new food. ECE open area, 1st floor ECE Purim Parade Thursday, March 1, 10 am The children wear costumes, the classrooms decorate signs and parents are welcome to participate in this long standing tradition. The parade begins in the Art Gallery, continues along the sculpture garden and ends in the ballroom, where we sing a few celebratory songs before returning to our classrooms. ECE discover CATCH Field Day Wednesday, March 14, 9 – Noon Each age group will have a selected time slot to demonstrate discover Coordinated Approach to Child’s Health (CATCH) activities. The classrooms collaborate, plan and carry out age-appropriate physical activities such as games, obstacle courses, or music and movement with the children. All of the parents are invited to join in the play. At the end, they will receive a healthy snack to take back and share together. The J’s Grassy Area Passover Walk Thursday, March 28, 10 am ECE classrooms walk through The J’s Sculpture Garden listening to the story of Passover and looking at popular scenes acted out. This year’s storytelling will be a collaboration of many departments including Special Needs Services, Children and Youth, and others playing critical roles in telling the story of Passover. Family Shabbat Picnic Friday, May 18, 6 – 7 pm A casual celebration held in the Sculpture Garden, culminating the end of the school year with parents, teachers and children! Get homework done with help from J-Care staff, education professionals and volunteers from the University of Arizona. Monday – Friday, 3:45 – 5:45 pm Upstairs Library, Open to all members School Days Out Programs | Grades K - 7 When school is out you can still spend your day having a great time at The J! SDO programs include awesome field trips throughout Tucson and age-appropriate activities at The J. Regular hours are 9am - 4pm now including pre-care and post-care.
