Metalube Appoint Senior Development Chemist
World leading lubricant manufacturer, Metalube Ltd has appointed John
Mainwaring as a Senior Development Chemist. He will join the laboratory
team at the company’s headquarters in Irlam, Manchester UK.
John has a degree in Chemical Science from
Manchester Metropolitan University and as
part of his new role will be responsible for the
management and development of Metalube’s
chain oils and greases. He joins the company
from Millers Oils in Huddersfield where his
expertise included automotive engine and
transmission oils as well as industrial products
such as MWF, rust preventatives, gear oils,
chain oils and hydraulic oils. Prior to Millers,
John worked for nine years at Ironsides
Lubricants in Stockport.

chemists at Metalube. His wealth of experience
allows him to hit the ground running and he will be
tremendous asset to the Lab.” John is married with
a 3 year old daughter Isabel and is a keen supporter
of Manchester City. He also enjoys DIY and travel.

Fives Expands its Offer in
Tube and Pipe Machinery
Fives, a global industrial engineering group,
has acquired the intellectual property (IP) and
know-how of Italy’s Imec Engineering’s Tube
and Pipe division.
The acquired portfolio covers the technological
expertise in four segments of Imec Engineering:
polishing, finishing, packaging and handling in the
steel and energy sectors. It will highly complement
the Fives’ offer which covers engineering,
manufacturing, supply and installation of custom
engineered machines under the historical names of
Abbey, Bronx, OTO and Taylor-Wilson to process
seamless and welded tube and pipe products. The

purchase of the IP and know-how is a key step in
enlarging Fives’ offer in stainless steel machinery
and strengthening its global offer for the mechanical,
structural and automotive tubing markets.
