Wykeham’s quill, but a contrast with the
ten permanent priests who constituted
the fellows. It is not anticipated that the
requirement for Go Bo to have taken
holy orders will be reinstated.
HoDo Merry-Go-Round
The beginning of Short Half also saw
the first two of six imminent changes of

from John Cullerne (Physics, 98-);
- 2019, Kenny’s: Joe Cole (Physics, 15-),

- 2019, Phil’s: Dan Pounds (Geography,
03-), from David Yeomans (DT, 04-);
- 2020, Freddie’s: Tim Giddings (Classics,
09-), from Jamie McManus (Chemistry,
01-);
- 2021, Beloe’s: Laurence Guymer
(History, 10-), from Mark Romans
(History, 00-).
T he T rusty S ervant
with 1016 runs, including 147* against
the OWs. The fencing achievements of
Joe Donaghue (A, 16-) and Keir Hudson
(I, 14-) saw them selected for the Junior
Commonwealth Games, for Scotland
and Jersey respectively. Tom Kidner (E,
13-18) won his 12 th fives trophy during
his time at the school (a record) and
became only the second player even
to retain both the major singles titles
for a second year. Joseph Oluwabusola
(C, 16-) represented Nigeria in the
qualifying round of the U17 African Cup
of Nations. Further national call-ups may
follow from the current Yearlings sides:
four out of the five beat their Etonian
opposition early this half.
From vellum to the Cloud
Thanks to a generous donation from
Alta Advisors in 2017, some of the most
frequently consulted items from the
College Archives have been digitised
and a new website created to allow
researchers to access these records
on-line.
The digitised records so far consist of the
following:
• Our published biographical registers of
pupils, staff, wardens and fellows, the
Winchester College Registers, 1836-1975
• The manuscript registers of scholars,
1393-1964
• Thomas Kirby’s printed edition of
Winchester Scholars, covering all
scholars admitted from 1393 to 1887
• The War Service Rolls and Roll of
Honours for WW1 and WW2
• The Wykehamist from 1866 to 1920
• Winchester College Muniments, the
published catalogue for the College
Archives pre c1870
• Photographs of the school, taken from
glass slides and negatives, late 19th
and early 20th century
The website is
www.winchestercollegearchives.org and
anyone wishing to use it should apply to
the College Archivist for a log-on. This is
to enable us to monitor what researchers
are looking for and why.
More archives will be digitised as time
and funds allow. We will certainly
continue to add editions of The
Wykehamist and we hope to include the
Foundation Charters and the Founder’s
Statutes before the end of this year.

Ridding Court
The redevelopment of Wellington House
and surroundings has been completed,
with the new buildings christened
Ridding Court.
Achievements
Oliver Tarney (Music,12- ) has
completed a setting of St Mark’s Passion
commissioned by the St Endellion Easter
Music Festival, with libretto
Ruairidh Forgan (Coll, 13-18) has
been selected for the UK team for
the International Physics Olympiad
in Lisbon; Richard Danylyuk (Coll,
14-) was invited to train with the UK
Chemistry team. Jeyoung Lee (K, 15-)
won first prize at the U18 William Morris
Award for Arts and Crafts.
Johnny Figy (I, 17-) broke the 1000-run
barrier in his debut season for Lord’s,
