The Trusty Servant keep the village tidy . He had a great sense of duty and ethics . Married ( 1 ) 1976 Ann Mason ( marriage dissolved ) ( 2 ) Catherine Southwell ( separated ), who survives him with his two daughters .
Simon Aubrey Robin Hood Hastings- Bass ( K , 64-69 ): died 6.10.2017 , Lords and Soccer XI . Trinity College , Cambridge . His working life was spent in Newmarket , much of it in the Insurance Department of the British Bloodstock Agency . Betting was always a fascination and several household items were named after betting successes . The hoover owed its existence to a winning bet on My Aunt Fancy ! He shared many horses with his mother , including El Rey , which won the Newbury Spring Cup in 1988 . Latterly ill health dogged him and finally he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour . He always had an irrepressible sense of fun and could extract the quirkiness out of any ostensibly bland situation . Married 1997 Ann Mason , who survives him .
Jonathan Philip Basil Bliss ( H , 68-71 ): died 25.8.2017 . He showed an early aptitude for computer science . He first travelled and lived abroad , in the USA where he managed a restaurant , the Caribbean where he worked on cruise ships , Australia and the Far East . He returned to the UK in 1981 . He sold mainframes for Delta and became a National Computer Sales Manager . He set up the Patisserie Bliss in London which won the London Time Out award for producing the best cappuccino and croissants in London . In 1995 he moved to South Wales where he renewed his passion for computing , working as a computer scientist and software designer . In 2007 he embarked on a Computer Science and Maths degree at Bristol University , where he gained a diploma . He was setting up the Brew Tea Pub in London and building his dream home on the Côte d ’ Azur at Ossum near Plan de la Tour when he died with a brain aneurysm . He had fierce courage and when aged 54 he was mugged by two muggers on a motorcycle ; he ran after them roaring and was rewarded by the return of his rucksack . His intelligence was bubbling to be expressed . In 2012 he started Composium , bags for kitchen composting . Married 2015 Katherine Jones , whom he met in 1982 , who survives him with their two daughters .
Henry James Angell-James ( F , 76-80 ): died 30.10.2017 . Son of RFA-J ( F , 45- 50 ). Exhibitioner . Magdalene College , Cambridge where he first read Natural Science but switched to Land Economy . Graduated 1984 . He first worked for Savills in London before setting up his own firm , Graftongate , in Birmingham in 2004 . This allowed him to commute from the family estate , Berwick near Shrewsbury . Graftongate flourished due to his integrity , drive , originality and ability . He was a governor of Abberley Hall School . Married ( 1 ) 1989 Edwina Garton-Jones ( marriage dissolved ) and ( 2 ) 2011 Sally Gordon , who survives him with two sons from his first marriage and a son from his second marriage .
Julian Maurice Alexander Bennetts ( D , 90-95 ): died 30.5.2017 . Son of DMB ( D , 57-62 ). Exhibitioner . St Hugh ’ s College , Oxford , 2.1 English Literature . He then embarked on a career in the City in finance and IT . He remained an avid reader and keen literary critic . In accord with his Buddhist faith he asked the biggest questions and in doing so he found meaning in the smallest things – ‘ Where every particle of dust breathes forth its joy .’ Married 2010 Venetia Harwood-Smart , who survives him with their two sons .
Thomas ( Tom ) Henry Ralph Horton ( I , 98-03 ): died 23.10.2017 . Drew Travel Scholarship , which he spent exploring and drawing in Amsterdam . He then attended Edinburgh College of Art followed by studying Architecture and Interior Design at Newcastle University , BA ( Hons ) and Leeds University . But by then depression was beginning to surface and he withdrew to the family home . However , when the family moved to a new house he took on a new life and threw himself into tidying up the woods surrounding the house , creating vistas and glades . He then embarked on the exhausting task of thinning the rhododendrons and azaleas . He became hugely knowledgeable about plants including their Latin names . His housemaster , Rob Wyke , wrote that he was grateful to have known Tom as a lively , amusing , mischievous schoolboy whose individuality of spirit may have needed a little repressing rather than encouraging . Tom ’ s life was short , but he was an intensely visual person who mixed non-conformism with a dash of what he perceived to be stylish . He is survived by his parents and his two sisters and a brother .
