Recent Win Coll Soc Events
OW RGJ Dinner: a tardy report about
a rather special event. On Tuesday
26 th April 2016, 52 OW members of
the Royal Green Jackets, including
predecessor and successor regiments,
assembled at White’s Club to hear the
CGS, General Sir Nick Carter KCB,
CBE, DSO, ADC Gen (H, 72-76), talk
about the qualities that the Army is
looking for in a young person today and
the sorts of challenges they will face. A
most interesting and enjoyable evening,
beautifully arranged by Mark Cornell (K,
79-84).
Edinburgh Dinner 2016: on Thursday
3rd November 2016, 55 OWs, wives and
current and past parents gathered at the
New Club in Edinburgh. Tim Hands,
the Headmaster, spoke about his first
impressions of the School and Martin
Haldane replied on behalf of the guests.
All agreed that it was an excellent
occasion and should be repeated at least
every four years.

Bristol & Bath Dinner 2016: on Friday
4th November 2016, 57 OWs and
their wives gathered in the immaculate
setting of the Holburne Museum in Bath,
under the aegis of Chairman Jonathan
Wyld. Guest speaker Sir Roger Vickers
recounted a number of anecdotes and
Domum was sung to its original tune.
Favourable comments were made about
the quality and volume of food and
George Fellowes, Dinner Secretary, was
thanked for his hard work. Next year, it’s
back to Bristol and the Merchants’ Hall.
Nigeria event: in December 2016,
a reunion was held in Lagos and the
following attended: Tosin Osibodu (C,
02-07), Obinna Okwodu (C, 08-10),
Imran Adeeyo (C, 08-13), Daghe
Osime (G, 07-12), Ife Bakare (F, 07-
12), Ladi Oladitan (F, 07-12), Adeniyi
Coker (G, 11-16), Ade Okuwoga (C,
09-11), Adesoye Kuye (C, 11-16), Osita
Ighodaro (A, 11-14) and Ademide
Ajayi (F, 10-15).
Settrington Shoot: on 14 th January
2017, for the fifth year running, Kenelm
Storey (K, 76-81) and his wife Karen
immaculately hosted an OW shoot at
his estate in North Yorkshire. This year’s
stalwarts, enjoying beautiful views of the
Vale of Pickering lightly dusted in snow,
were Jamie & Angie Bebb, Ed Daniels,
Christopher Green, Malcolm & Sarah Le
May, Nigel Meek, Richard Morse, Rod &
Christina Parker, Richard Priestley and
Alex Roe.
Under-25s Dinner: on Friday 20 th
January 2017, there were smiles all round
and a grand evening of wine, food and
above all great company at the under-25s
OW dinner at the Army & Navy Club.
Thank you to the 46 who supported this
event. A great turn-out. Let’s do it all
again next year and beat the 50 guests
mark!
