Not-So-Spooky Family Sleepover
at the Louisville Zoo
Saturday, Oct. 7
Louisville loves our "World’s
Largest Halloween Party!"
presented by Meijer, and
this year the Louisville
Zoo is making it even
more special with
our Not-So-Spooky
Sleepover experi-
ence. Your evening
will begin with an
animal encounter in
the Louisville Zoo MetaZoo.
Later, enjoy a pizza dinner
sponsored by Papa John’s before
you go “boo!” at the Zoo with our
delightful, not frightful costumed
characters on the trick-or-treat
route. Afterwards, slip on your
pajamas for a creepy crawly craft and a family-friendly
movie before lights out. In the morning, wake up to
a continental breakfast sponsored by Krispy Kreme
doughnuts and take a morning guided tour with our
staff. Next day admission is not included with this
event.
Ages: 5 & up (All children must be accompanied
by a paying adult chaperone).
Cost: $40 per person
Hours: 5 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.

As summer winds
down and we head
into a new school year,
I am reminded of the Louis-
ville Zoo’s mission “to better the
bond between people and our
planet.”
For so many of us — students
and adults alike — the Zoo is a liv-
ing classroom where that bond is
forged. With animals and exhibits
that delight us and encourage
our curiosity, the Zoo pushes us
to consider how our actions have

and Wetlands Walk
Saturday, Nov. 4
Daisies, Brownies & Juniors are invited to this overnight
experience that will focus on native Kentucky wildlife.
Enjoy a hot dog roast around a fire pit (weather permit-
ting) and a nature walk through the Louisville Zoo’s Wet-
lands Trail. After dark, take a guided stroll through the
Zoo and meet some native animal ambassadors up close.
In the morning enjoy a continental breakfast sponsored
by Krispy Kreme doughnuts and a morning tour. The
experience ends at 10 a.m. or you may choose to stay
the next day as next day admission is included.
Ages: 5 & up*
Cost: $40 per person
Hours: 6:30 p.m. – 10 a.m.
Cookies and Cocoa with the Bears:
Twilight Program
Friday, Dec. 8
Families can join us for cookies, cocoa and educational
fun from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. The evening will
include hands-on animal contact with MetaZoo animal
ambassadors, activities, a craft and fun.
Ages: 3 & up*
Cost: $15 per person
Hours: 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
* These are not a drop-off program. Children must be
accompanied by a paying adult chaperone.

The need for that kind of con-
sideration is why Louisville Metro

And a visit to the Louisville
Zoo — where we can see and
interact with our fellow creatures
— is the perfect place to see and
live that connection. It is a perfect
way to start our children on the
path to considering their individu-
al role in our community and our
planet, and to strive for compas-
sion for all living things.
So we welcome the busloads of
children who’ll soon be visiting on
field trips this school year— learn-
ing, I hope, that we all have a role
in ensuring a sustainable future.
None of us can do that on our
own, but working together, we
can achieve anything.
