Designed for kids ages 3–10 years old, our nature-themed programs will help your chil- dren fi nd their inner zoologist as they discover the natural world and its animals through explo- ration and investigation. Children should be prepared to get dirty as they "dive into nature." In the coming months, the Zoo will break ground on an exciting new feature for families with young chil- dren: a new, dedicated early-childhood play space. The Cub House presented by PNC will be the fi rst of its kind for the Zoo and is being designed with the youngest visitor in mind. Leading up to The Cub House opening planned for 2019, the Zoo is embarking on a new program for families with young children. Zoo Preschool will be an exciting addition to the MetaZoo Discovery Center’s program lineup. This year-round, full-day preschool program for 4 – 5 year olds will be the ultimate learning experience. Created on the values of the importance of nature-play, preschool learn- ers will get to learn through self-selected centers and exploration in the classroom while also getting to use the Louisville Zoo’s natural materials as their learning space. Preschoolers will learn about animals, their ad- aptations and ecosystems while they gain kinder- garten readiness skills. Once a month, the children will get to share their classroom with their parents as they engage in up-close experiences with our very own animal ambassadors.
