party for the planet A Month-Long Celebration of the Earth Powered by Additional support by One day isn’t enough to celebrate the wonder of our planet and promote the need to protect it — so the Louisville Zoo is host- ing a month-long party! This year marks the Zoo's 29th year of celebrating the Earth since our first cel- ebration in 1990. This April, enjoy weekend activities and cool displays by our eco-partners to learn how you can do your part to help our planet. Plus, there will be ZooPoopyDoo compost and mulch sales, week- end recycling programs, fun contests and more. Earth Month Kick-Off Saturday, March 23 at 11 a.m. See how local students turn trash into treasure in our annual Trashformation Art Contest. View winning displays and attend the press conference at 11 a.m. when we’ll announce this year’s winners. There will also be a jam session led by Louisville Orchestra Music Director Teddy Abrams for students who entered the musical instrument category. TreesLouisville Tree Giveaway Sunday, April 7, 28;10 a.m. – 2 p.m. TreesLouisville will be here on April 7 and April 28 giving away 225 trees each day, on a first-come, first- serve basis to help promote a rebuilding of Louisville’s tree canopy.
