Did you know?
This year, Glacier Run keeper
Stephanie Green joined the ranks
of other Louisville Zoo keepers
who have visited Churchill, Mani-
toba, with Polar Bears International
(PBI), one of our important conservation partners.
Stephanie met with zoo staff from around the coun-
try for Climate Alliance 2018. Together, they learned
more about climate change and how it affects the
sea ice that polar bears need to survive. You can
read more about her visit in an upcoming issue of
Trunkline magazine.
To follow the amazing work of PBI, visit their web-
site polarbearsinternational.org. You'll see great
photos and videos of polar bears and learn about
PBI's ground-breaking projects.

Curator
Recently our
Curator of
Herpetology,
Bill McMahan,
was honored
during the 2018
Association of Zoos
and Aquariums
Annual Conference
for 25 years of
leadership as
the Species Survival Plan Coordinator for Cuban
Crocodiles. Over the years, Bill has dedicated his life
to helping Cuban crocodiles, traveling to their native
territories and providing important research for this
critically endangered species. Cuban crocodiles are
facing extinction in the vanishing wild within our
lifetime due to decreasing freshwater habitat and
hybridization with the American crocodile.
You can visit these rare reptiles in the Islands
Pavillion. Congratulations to Bill and thank you from
all of us.
