Just another cold snowy night in the Rockies and I find myself dreaming of the warm summer sun that brings on the hatches that all trout fishermen dream of. At this point in my life its apparent to me that human nature always leaves us yearning for the things that we “cannot have”. And so this night instead of planning another epic winter fishing trip that may just leave me on the river by myself, I’m envisioning large dry fly’s and lots of native fish looking up, eager to feed on my offerings. Of course I’m wet wading and enjoying the cool waters flowing knee deep as the sun warms my arms and face. Frozen finger and numb toes far from my mind. Flowers in full bloom are filling the air with their scents only to be overtaken by the fresh aroma of the evergreen trees surrounding one of my favorite high mountain streams. These are exactly the places that inevitably ensnare the unsuspecting fly fishing newbie into a lifetime pursuit.
