STILLWATER: A refuge for all Southern Alberta fly fishers. We are all holding our breath to see what the results of spring will be this year on our river system. In the meantime we start to hit up the nearest lakes to keep our muscles and minds ready for the hot summer of fishing insanity to come! After hitting up a few lakes close to home, Ian and I ventured about 2 hours or so east to a lake we had been hearing good ‘fish’ stories from. When we arrived we quickly found out that we were not the only ones hearing these stories. Fighting with a mostly frozen lake, we marched off to find a little bay to fish that was open and fisherman free. Ian was slamming the fish right away catching about 6 or 7 rainbows all over 16”. After about 1000 casts I finally figured out what Ian was doing that I wasn’t, and everything proceeded smoothly for a while. Landed myself this beautiful 19” bow.
