Eventually, the waters of my local stream get too high even for a flashy streamer. That’s when I move to tailwaters. This one’s pretty self explanatory: by fishing below a dam, flows will stay more consistently low than a freestone, not to mention clearer. Tailwaters also produce some gargantuan fish, since that nice

clean, cold water you’re fishing in is great for bugs and fish survival.

When all else fails, or you’re itching for a change of pace, try fishing for whole new species! Though this is Trout Porn, and trout will always hold a special place in my heart, it’s tough to argue with the explosive takes and leaping acrobatics of a Largemouth Bass or the toothy agility and aggressive speed of a Pike. Give warm water a try sometime, and you’ll be happy you did! (Just don’t go posting a picture of that nice Carp you caught to the WLB, or at least be prepared to take some heat for it)

Till next time!!
