If you moustache , there ’ s lots for students at the Dali Museum
Located in St . Petersburg , Florida , the Dali Museum , which celebrates the life and work of artist Salvador Dali , houses more than 2,100 of his works and offers unique encounters for student groups .
The family-friendly Mr . Moustache tour is part of the Dali Museum Virtual Tour app . The tour is offered
Dali Museum complimentary on the museum ’ s devices or can be downloaded to a visitor ’ s personal device . On the tour , Dali ’ s animated moustache guides students to select works while omitting works with adult content . The tour is intended for youths up to age 13 , and printed audio scripts for visitors with hearing impairments are available .
Private docent-led tours can target specific areas of interest , like mathematics , science , psychology and religion . The Provoca Tour focuses on the more provocative subjects of Dali ’ s works . The tours are about an hour and are offered in several languages .
The building itself is a combination of traditional and bizarre ; it ’ s rectangular shaped with 18-inch thick hurricane-proof walls out of which emerges a large , free-form geodesic glass bubble . Groups can learn more as part of the architecture tour , free with admission to the museum . They ’ ll see the three-story helical staircase that recalls Dali ’ s obsession with the double-helix of the DNA molecule . The museum ’ s gardens are also part of the architecture tours , including the Mathematical Garden , designed for students to explore the relationship between math and nature .

Dale Chihuly glass exhibit at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art
Getting artsy in OKC
According to Teresa Compton , every corner in Oklahoma City is an opportunity for enrichment .
“ Oklahoma City offers a distinctive cultural experience for our student travelers . From seeing Western art and artifacts that brilliantly convey the strong pioneer spirit to standing in awe at a beautiful three-story glass sculpture created and designed by American glass sculptor Dale Chihuly , students will expand their love of art with an unforgettable , moving experience in Oklahoma City ,” says Compton , the tourism sales manager with Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau .
The Oklahoma City Museum of Art , located downtown , houses rotating and permanent exhibits , including that collection of Chihuly exhibits . During GALLERY + STUDIO visits , specially trained educators lead visitors on a two-hour , all-inclusive museum tour . Afterward , participants create their own works of art in the museum ’ s studio .
The Best of the West program for grades three through 12 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum allows students to compare and contrast Native American and non- Native American lifestyles , explore the legend of the American cowboy , analyze and interpret premier Western art , and identify how artifacts and artwork communicate the story of the West today .
The 21c Museum Hotel offers free docent tours at 5 p . m . every Wednesday and Friday . Art exhibits are set up on the first floor , and a new exhibit , “ Pop Stars ! Pop Culture and Contemporary Art ,” debuted in April and will run for a year . The exhibit will include artist Fahamu Pecou . Inspired by the # BlackLivesMatter movement , Pecou ’ s “ Broken Open ” is an attempt to redirect the angst and despair experienced by black Americans by emphasizing beauty , strength and resilience .
