NEW YORK CITY
With the bright lights of Broadway as its calling-card, New York City
remains a mecca for the creative arts. When student bands, choirs,
dancers and theater groups head to the Big Apple, they have plenty of
places where they can combine workshops and performing opportunities
with VIP tours and seeing a show.
Broadway Inbound offers a series of specialized programs that pair
students with working actors and theater professionals. The company
has separate options for actors, singers and dancers—all lasting between
90 minutes and three hours—that are led by veteran performers. These
sessions are often combined with tickets to a Broadway show.
Other New York City performing arts groups have similar instructional-
based classes, and there are a number of organizations—including the
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Snug Harbor Cultural Center
and The RIDE—that offer performance opportunities for bands and choirs.
School groups also can go on behind-the-scenes tours at Carnegie Hall,
the Apollo Theater, Radio City Music Hall and some of the city’s other
top venues.
