This year Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary , and Montréal turns 375 . Throughout 2017 , visitors are learning about the city ’ s history through Cité Mémoire , a self-guided exploration of 60 points ( and people ) of interest . A free app and 20 images projected at night make this a unique learning experience .
This year and beyond , Montréal is a top destination for students . Space for Life is the largest natural science museum complex in Canada , bringing together a biodome , insectarium , botanical garden and planetarium . At Biodôme de Montréal , students embark upon on an immersive journey through five ecosystems of the Americas . They listen to the sounds of the tropical rainforest , search for lynx in the Laurentian Maple Forest , dive into the heart of the Gulf of St . Lawrence and say hello to penguins in the Sub-Antarctic Islands .
The Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium provides an immersive experience of the universe through two complementary shows in 360-degree domes . Groups can also visit a digital and interactive exhibition , Exo , to learn about the traces of life in the universe .
Grevin Museum is a site of unlikely encounters . From Céline Dion and Michael Jackson to Einstein and Barack Obama , wax figures of 120 past and present celebrities from the arts , sciences , politics and sports are on display .
Ecomuseum Zoo offers an escape into nature on the island of Montréal , only 25 minutes from downtown . Students can have close encounters with Québec wildlife , including black bears , woodland caribou , Canada lynx , eagles , reptiles and amphibians .

The Niagara Falls History Museum specializes in the human history of the area , including the War of 1812 , industry , daredevils and tourism . Students can tour Lundy ’ s Lane Battlefield , Drummond Hill Cemetery and Battle Ground Hotel Museum . Through the end of 2017 , Canada ’ s 150th anniversary , the museum is displaying 150 objects from people who call Niagara home , helping to tell their story of what it means to be Canadian .
The Shaw Festival Theatre , the second-largest repertory theater company in Canada , offers access to world-class facilities , artists and technicians . Nestled in historical Niagara-on-the-Lake , Ontario , the theater provides enrichment activities for students and professional development opportunities for teachers .
WildPlay Niagara Falls offers exciting ways to appreciate the natural beauty of the falls and Niagara Parks . Four parallel zip lines give guests breathtaking trips with views of the American and Canadian Horseshoe Falls . And the Whirlpool Adventure Course is a sequence of suspended obstacles and zip lines high above the natural whirlpool in the Niagara Gorge .
IMAX Niagara has a behind-the-scenes tour to teach students what makes IMAX films different . A projectionist explains IMAX technology and shows students the innovative reel and sound system . Guests also get to watch a movie and take a DVD copy home with them .
