Erine Wiggins Wiggins Wiggins started his career at East Bernstadt before fi nishing up at London High School in 1953. While at East Bernstadt he was named to the All-State Third Team in basketball. He repeated that award during his senior season at London, where he also played in the East-West All-Star game in 1953. He also played baseball for London at the end of his junior year and played shortstop for the London Colonels. After high school Wiggins went to Wake Forest, where he emerged as one of the nation’s best collegiate players. He was noted the Most Valuable Player in 1957 and was the nation’s best free throw shooter that season. He was named to the All-ACC Team that year after scoring 1,000 points during his career at Wake Forest. He holds the record at Wake Forest for most consecutive fi eld goals in a game at 12. He started every game in his career for the Demon Deacons. He would later coach Sue Bennett College for 10 years, winning over 150 games. Lauren Wombles Wombles Wombles was one of the greatest female athletes ever at South Laurel, where she starred in basketball, volleyball and softball. While playing basketball at South Laurel High School, she was the 13th Region Player of the Year 2008, a Kentucky All-Star 2008, East vs West All-Star 2008, East All-Star MVP 2008, Kentucky vs. Ohio All-Star 2008, All-State Team 2007, 2008, Tri-County Player of the Year 2007, 2008, All-District Team 2005-2008, All-Region Team 2005-2008 and she fi nished with 1,672 career points. After high school Wombles attended the University of the Cumberlands, where she etched her name in the record books. She was WBCA 1st Team All-American 2012, WBCA NAIA Honorable Mention 2009, NAIA All-American 2008-2012, Mid-South Conference Player of the Year 2012, Mid-South Conference All-Conference Team 2008-2012, Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year 2008, Mid-South Conference Player of the Week on multiple occasions, Daktronics NAIA Academic All-American 2009-2012, Daktronics Mid- South Conference All-Academic Team 2009-2012, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Ring of Honor.
