The Corbin Arena first opened its doors with country superstar act Montgomery Gentry March 12, 2009. Corbin Arena Manager Kristi Balla marked 2018 as a pivotal year for the Corbin Arena. WWE put on two shows at the Arena in 2018 and Cole Swindell brought his Reason to Drink Tour to the Arena through Live Nation. As WWE and Live Nation are among two of the world’s biggest promoters in the entertainment industry, Balla worked hard and developed relationships with both over the past year. promot- “I worked really hard to talk both promot ers into giving us a chance,” Balla said. You’ll see more collaborations in the near future. num- This year the Arena will host a large num ber of family events and there will be some fun surprise concert announcements throughout the year. Balla has tried to host a variety of acts and will continue to do so, but she said there is a trend as to what sells and what doesn’t. Transitioning into the new year, Balla is pleased to have worked out a lot of internal kinks that happened through the previous years. With several events happening each month and some yet to be announced, the rest of winter and the first part of spring look to be busy for the Corbin Arena. Already in 2019 the Arena has hosted Kane Brown, a fishing expo, Monster Truck Nationals and a signing event for University of Kentucky football standout Benny Snell, Jr. And plenty more is on the calendar for 2019.
