A louvre roof with drop-down side screen gives
this home a year-round outdoor dining space
Building another room onto your home
is not the cheapest thing to do. However,
if you need more entertainment space, or
indoor-outdoor flow, or an outdoor living
room, then thankfully there’s another way.
This home has been fully renovated
with further living space added to the
downstairs level. In addition, the rear out-
door area was levelled for day-to-day use.
The Bask louvre roof was a key aspect
of the outdoor renovation, says Joanna
Wellwood of HomePlus, where the out-
door living systems can be purchased.
“This gives the homeowners perfect
indoor outdoor flow, through the huge
sliding doors added onto the new living
area,” she says. “They also opted for a
drop down screen on one side as a wind-
break and for privacy from neighbours.”
The system is finished in Dulux Silver
Pearl Kinetic powdercoat colour to match
the home’s joinery.
“The drop-down screen and operation
of the louvres are both controlled by a single
remote. Opening the louvres lets in the
warming winter sun, while closing them
shades you from the summer sun and also
cools the indoor rooms.”
