Are You Ready to Be A Local Leader ?

We know that teachers are very busy , which is why we provide a variety of levels at which our Local Leaders can be engaged and help introduce Professional Educators of Tennessee to their fellow educators . Assisting us in sharing information with teachers in your local area should require very little time and would have the potential to greatly impact our growing membership . Whether it ’ s sharing emails to others in your school or district , distributing printed materials , or setting up a booth at an event , we appreciate our statewide team of leaders helping in any way they can .
Your teacher voice in our Legislature is vital to convey what is going on in classrooms across the state , so we may ask you to serve as a liaison between Tennessee teachers and lawmakers . Again , this is usually just sharing information to the extent that you are comfortable . Our staff in Nashville can also coordinate with you to visit the Capitol and even testify on specific pieces of legislation about which you are passionate . Sign up for the Legislative & Advocacy Updates email list to stay up-to-date .
Director of Member Services Karen Stroud holds a monthly conference call available to all Local Leaders to discuss current topics and news about the organization , as well as address any questions or concerns you may have . These calls are completely optional and available as a way to regularly touch base and bring together the leadership team ; they are also recorded for those who are not able to be on the live call and would like to listen in later .
