These are just a few of the issues that will be addressed at our annual conference. Our advocacy efforts carry
significant weight with legislators. We take your voice to the policymakers, skillfully advocating for your
priorities and rights. Our efforts are nonpartisan and focus only on public education in Tennessee, not outside
issues. We know our members care deeply about public education. That is why we provide opportunities to get
involved and effect change yourself.
We invite you to attend Leader U on June 30, 2017, at MTSU. More importantly we want you to know we listen
to our members and your voice is being heard at the Tennessee General Assembly. Our members define our
legislative priorities and advocacy efforts, and we make sure our professional learning activities align with our
member needs.

National Mental Health
Awareness Month
Did you know that May is National Mental Health Awareness Month?
Being an educator can put you at a higher risk of stress, anxiety and
even depression. Teachers and other school personnel are often the
first to notice behavioral and social changes in the children they spend
so much time with every day. Check out the Educators Mental Health
Series in the Leader U On-Demand Learning Portal to learn how to
recognize signs and symptoms, and what you can do next.
