A Q I think many would find it interesting, maybe not, how much time and energy is dedicated to facilities, transportation, scheduling, personnel, politics, food services, and community engagement (not in that order). The public is always surprised at the magnitude of a school district, which in many instances is the largest employer and largest partaker of county dollars. I always take the time to do a breakdown of our school district at any public meeting so I can create a better understanding of what we do beyond educating students. You were selected by our educators as the Superintendent of the Year. What do people not know about your job that they would find interesting? A Never lose sight of the significance or the impact you make in the classroom today and in the future. There is nothing so magical as when you recognize when a child has mastered something that has been a challenge and you had a hand in making it happen. There is no better career than being a classroom teacher, which is the reason I still teach.
