The Key Stage 1 curriculum has 4 Foundation Subjects which are detailed below: HUMANITIES ARTS PHYSICAL EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY • History - awareness of the past, historical people & events • Geography - locational / place knowledge • Arts & Design • Design & Technology - making products, using various tools • Music - playing instruments, exploring rhythm/beat ‣ Indoor & Outdoor Sport ‣ Ball skills, balance, coordination, team sports • Computing - understanding algorithms, logic, basic programs • Robotics The curriculum is designed using a thematic approach with specific topics that are selected to equip our students with the skills and knowledge needed in everyday life - for example ‘Our Changing World’ has associated topic lessons of ‘About Weather’. Another theme is ‘The World beyond us’ with associated topic based lessons of ‘About Planets’. All lessons are designed to stimulate your child's curiosity and engage them on their learning journey. Many hands on projects are showcased in the school or taken home for you to take pride in your child’s work. Personal, Social, Health & Economics “ Our regular PSHE lessons develop children’s skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, risk-management, team work and critical thinking in the context of learning through three core themes: health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world.
