SOCIO-POLITICS Issue 7: Interpreting Socio-Politics This section will present the issues raised during the Socio-Politics discussion, including how people understood socio-politics and what issues mattered to them, such as infighting within the Indian community, inequality, sexism, and racial discrimination. It will also present the suggested programs participants would like to be involved in to address such problems. Participants viewed socio-politics as the micro-politics of formal and informal power relations between groups and individuals. They also saw it as a discussion of everyday social issues. Politics of identity and representation were also brought up, along with how cultural differences are negotiated. Lastly, social stratification was noted as a crucial theme.
