Issue 1:Theatre & film production interest
While for professional productions, participants were critical of the
highbrow nature of these productions. Participants cited an inability to
relate or understand the Tamil being used as a deterrent.
As for practical considerations, participants complained that some
professional dramas’ durations were too long. However, they were willing
to attend and pay for tickets as long as its cost and quality correspond.
Similarly, for the local Tamil film scene, a lack of funding, skills,
equipment and the know-how were cited as the key obstacles for youth
participation.
