Location of federally listed species on Travis AFB , including critical habitat There are several federally listed threatened and endangered species located on Travis AFB that impact Base operations .
Compatibility Assessment
Seven special status species have been identified at Travis AFB . These are the Contra Costa goldfield , California tiger salamander , Swainson ’ s hawk , tricolored blackbird , western burrowing owl , vernal pool fairy shrimp , and vernal pool tadpole shrimp . These species are protected by the federal Endangered Species Act , the California Endangered Species Act , or the Migratory Bird Treaty Act .
Contra Costa Goldfield The Contra Costa goldfield is a federally endangered wildflower . The flower has been found in vernal pools and grasslands on Travis AFB . The installation contains 13 acres of US Fish and Wildlife Service ( USFWS ) designated critical habitat near the South Gate for the Contra Costa goldfield , along with the vernal pool fairy shrimp and vernal pool tadpole shrimp .
Swainson ’ s Hawk The Swainson ’ s hawk is a state threatened species and federally protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act . The hawk is a Neotropical migrant , wintering in Mexico and
