Christmas in London

Christmas is a magical time to visit England's capital, from the festive lights in Oxford Street and the seasonal window displays at Fortnum and Mason, to the giant Christmas tree in Covent Garden or the festival world of Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park.

Here's a round-up of my favourite Christmas haunts starting with Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, pictured below. With its Christmas market, fun fair and ice-rink, it has a fabulous atmosphere with plenty of tasty treats to tempt you. The markets at Covent Garden (including Apple Market pictured over the page) are also a must, with their festive decorations, you'll find some unique presents here and whatever time of year I visit, I always enjoy the street performers. But when it comes to window shopping London's most famous department stores, while busy, always put on wonderful seasonal displays. Old favourites include Harrods, Liberty and Fortnum & Mason. Lastly, a walk by the River Thames is even more romantic at Christmas, especially if it snows.
