THE BEST OF
VIRGINIA
The state of Virginia is quite versatile, with its mountain
ranges, coastlines, and virtually everything in between.
Whether you’re looking for a theme
park, a beach, or a mountain biking
trail, Virginia has you covered. Modest
weather throughout the spring season
allows for a great trip outdoors, so if
you are jumping up and down for
some one-on-one time with nature,
head to the state for lovers. were actually wasting resources.
These trails are important to those
who consistently use them, as they’ve
been transformed into something both
historical and beautiful. You can enjoy
one or more of the hundreds of trails
in the state, for biking, hiking, climbing,
and more.
A lot of Virginia’s trails come from the
Rails-to-Trails Act, where Congress
passed the bill that would allow these
areas to make use of old, abandoned
railroad trails that were not only doing
absolutely nothing for the area, but Another wonderful, natural thing to ex-
plore in Virginia are the many caverns
that call the state home. These cav-
erns has been discovered, preserved,
and turned into top attraction sites for
exploration. Take the Dixie Caverns for
example. A dog was the first to find
this place back in the 1920s, and three
years later, it was open to the public.
New passageways have been uncov-
ered, and lighting has been installed to
help those who dare to climb down
into these types of natural creations.
Enter the gift shop with rocks and min-
erals from the cavern on your way out,
where you will be able to take a
unique souvenir home with you to re-
member the beauty by.
Virginia is also rich with history, and
has plenty of museums and sites for
visitors, such as the Museum of Chin-
coteague Island, the American Revo-
lution Museum at Yorktown, the African
American Heritage Trail, Fort Monroe,
the Trail to Freedom, Pocahontas Is-
land, and so much more. For a full list
of things to do, visit www.virginia.org.
