winter to Blairsville. located deep in the heart of the Chatta-
hoochee national Forest amidst north Georgia’s Blue ridge
Mountains, visitors find hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding,
and more! eight waterfalls, including the twin cascades at Helton
Creek Falls, and warm weather water sports on pristine lake Win-
field scott and nottely lake, are favorites of guests and locals, not
to mention the 20-acre lake and swimming beach at one of Geor-
gia’s most beloved summer getaways, vogel state Park.
Blairsville also has plenty of attractions on land: The old
Courthouse Museum, with its 1899 romanesque re-
vival-style courthouse, internationally renowned Mar-
garita Morgan Miniature Collection and native american
artifacts, and the historical Walasi-Yi Center atop Blood
Mountain, which is the only place where the 2,175-mile-
long appalachian Trail passes through a man-made
structure, and home of the “museum of old soles.”
