THE BEST OF
TENNESSEE
Tennessee is often considered to be the birthplace of
several genres of music, so if your love of music is just as
great as your love of history, a trip to this state is for you.
Start off by visiting places like Memphis
and Nashville to get your musical fix.
Nashville is home to the Country Music
Hall of Fame, as well as the Grand Ole
Opry, dubbed the “country's most fa-
mous stage.” The Opry's radio broad-
cast is the longest running radio
broadcast in American history, and
widely known as “The Show that Made
Country Music Famous.”
Keep an eye out for the roots of Rock &
Roll, arguably found in Memphis. There
are well over 100 iconic names in music
that all come from the state in general,
and Memphis is one city that show-
cases a bit of history on them all. Take a
step back in time while you visit one of
the city’s many museums, such as the
Rock n’ Soul Museum, Stax Museum,
the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, and
the Blues Hall of Fame. The Blues Hall
of Fame alone notes more than 400
names that all brought something to the
blues industry, whether it be in full al-
bums, nearly-lost singles, or literature it-
self. Once inside, look for unforgettable
items, such as the dress of Koko Taylor,
Eddy Clearwater’s Indian Headdress,
Otis Spann’s piano, and so much more.
