Situated along Galveston Bay in the Houston area, the Kemah Boardwalk has something for everyone to enjoy. Buy a bracelet and take a ride on one of the many carnival attractions that the 35-acre atmosphere houses. Overlook the bay on the 65-foot-tall Ferris wheel, or take your best shot in the games section. Collect tickets and tokens in the arcade, where you’ll surely work up an appetite, and then head on over to the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company Aquarium Restaurant. The restaurant is happy to serve up some of your favorite seafood classics, all while looking at a great view of the 50,000- gallon aquarium. If you’re in the mood for something else, you can try the Saltgrass Steakhouse, the Bayside Grill, or the Cadillac Bar. One of the best sights to see in Texas in the spring are Bluebonnets in bloom. Take a road trip along the Texas highways and spot some wild growing Bluebonnets for yourself, or head to the Ladybird Johnson Wild- flower Center in Austin for spectacular flora displays. With nearly 300 acres to explore, there’s no reason not spend an entire day getting lost in the meadows of the state’s designated flower. Over 800 different species of plants, both flowering and non-flowering, have been planted in the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center, and some of them even grow here naturally. The buildings that you’ll notice around the property were sculpted to reflect the architectural styles of the region, and some of the structures even harvest rainwater into a storage system for the plants. Adult admission is around $10, and many events happen throughout the year here, so be sure to visit www.wildflower.org for more information. This year, the center will be hosting its first-ever Boots & Blooms event, which will be celebrating the blossoming Bluebonnets with country music, fantastic displays, live oaks, and so much more.
