May is Design month in New York City, with NYCxDESIGN that will take place this year from Friday, May 8, to Tuesday, May 19, the citywide celebration of design that will feature hundreds of events, spanning all disciplines of design, showcasing the top designers and their work from around the world. Home to more than 40,000 practicing designers (more than any other metropolitan area in the US), 3,900-plus design firms and 10 prominent design and architecture schools, New York City is definitely one of the world’s design capitals. Hosted at venues throughout New York City, NYCxDESIGN will include events focused on commerce, culture, education and entertainment with a full, varied program.

2015 Highlights:

WantedDesign Brooklyn (9-19 May) at Industry City in Sunset Park, also location of the official opening party of the event, that showcases multidisciplinary large-scale installations.

Collective Design (13-17 May) that will take place in a large industrial space in West Soho: an exhibition celebrating design innovation since the beginning of the 20th century to the present, with exhibitors from the most important design capitals of the world including Copenhagen, Milan, Paris.

Frieze Art Fair (14-17 May), now in its fourth edition will be held in Randall's Island Park. The fair will host 190 galleries of contemporary art from around the world and a program of art projects curated by Italian Cecilia Alemani, director of High Line Art.

WantedDesign Manhattan (15-18 May), at the Terminal Stores building in West Chelsea’s Historic District, offers a 360-degree experience with innovative installations, memorable products, pop-up stores and workshops.

ICFF (16-19 May) the premier North American global Design show, at New York’s Jacob K. Javits Center, showcases hundreds of products from around the world.
