all people in this country in different ways; the reaction is relative to who you are and where you were that day. While the WTC is in the City, the ripple effects of that day were felt all over the country and to the core. I don’t believe anything is by accident…I believe that out of every horrible thing that happens, something good comes out of it. I did not know at that time I would end up working in and loving the industry that in a way, saved my life. I feel very strongly about the importance of radio and the relevance of a timely broadcast. I think it’s very important that broadcasters uphold their responsibility to provide companionship and information; after all, information saved my life! Radio is so personal. When you are listening, you have company; companionship. Listeners truly identify with their favorite artists, on-air talent and the advertisers. They feel like they have a personal relationship with them. Radio will always be a free product to the consumer. It is local radio’s responsibility to provide information and companionship to the listener. How did you end up at Ranch Radio here in the Texas Hill Country? “I was part of the big Clear Channel downsizing last January. I was ready to come home. 8 years is a long time to be away from the great state of Texas!! You know what they say, ‘You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take the Texas out of the girl!’ I put my resume up on the Texas Association of Broadcasters website and soon after got a call from the station’s owner, Mark Grubbs. We talked for two hours that first conversation. He is just as passionate about local radio as I am and has been committed to the Texas Hill Country for over 15 years. My father and his wife live in Ingram, so I have family here too. I came in for an interview and the rest is history! My girls and I are so happy to be living in the Texas Hill Country! The community has really embraced us! I still have to pinch myself everyday. I asked Kelli to describe the commercials they create for their clients, and how radio works in advertising a business.
