Saturday May 16 2009 3 p.m. The Friends of Van der Stucken are pleased to announce that local businesses are supporting the May 16th Catherine Joseffy Memorial Tea. The Peach Tree Tea Room is baking orange walnut muffins for the tea, Clear River Pecan is supplying lemon bars, Chocolat is giving their liquidfilled chocolates, Marburger Orchard will donate blackberries, Fischer & Wieser Specialty Foods is giving jelly, favors for each attendee and a sandwich spread, and Fredericksburg Woman Magazine is helping with flyer distribution and advertising. “We are so grateful for this outpouring of community support,” said Tea Committee member, Beverly Allen. “This is such a wonderful event. It will be fun and it is great to be raising money for the Friends of Van der Stucken’s newly established music student scholarship and for Living Well College student programs.” “The menu is varied with a hearty middle course,” said Pat Frederickk, another committee member. “And it has an American and local twist with Thomas Jefferson scones and fresh blackberries from Marburger Orchard. No one will go away hungry!” The tea will be in the style of an English afternoon tea with an American and Texas flavor. The first course will include a mock Devonshire cream and blackberries with scones and muffins. The second course is heartier with fruit skewers, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, spicy deviled eggs and cucumber sandwiches.
