Well, she’s due the same month I am, isn’t that great? Oh yeah, and my best friend has a drug problem, but I told her not to bring anything to school because they search cars a few times a month. We wouldn’t want her getting caught. How was your day? We have an abnormal number of pregnant teens, and, like it or not, a decent amount of discrimination. As I continue to write, I will delve into these topics to try to raise awareness of what is really going on. Think of me as a shadow. I never leave your side. When the spotlight shines on you, I’m there to help you with stage fright. When you see me I always make you look taller, and when you are alone I am always with you. All I want to do is help. Parents need to know what a lot of teens here are doing. It is a small town with not a lot to do until you reach the age of about 25. Sure, we have a movie theater, a bowling alley, and a putt-putt golfing center, but you can only knock down so many pins until you need something else to do. This is where your high schoolers turn to “extracurricular” activities like drinking, having sex, and smoking marijuana. So, Moms and Dads of Fredericksburg, we need your help. We are not little kids anymore, but there is no way we are ready to be adults. Sometimes it seems more “experienced” than you choose to believe. We want to tell you what is going on, but we’re scared. If you really allow yourself to become a part of the school, the experience is one that will never be forgotten. For me, FHS is not a bad place to be. It’s a place where friends abound and theres always a fresh pair of ears waiting to hear our story. We just need a little help editing it. FHS is the only place I would ever want to graduate from.
