BY DR SRINIVAS KOTAMARTHY

With the summit of Expo 2020 visible in the horizon of Dubai, the peak can be scaled only by talented manpower that would imbibe the spirit of its vision into its core.

The success of the event is directly dependent on acquiring, developing, sustaining and rewarding the talent that is required. The global expanse of EXPO 2020 stretches on a world that is getting flatter by the day with concurrent technical innovation and a seamless flow of information.

The Talent Management Cycle

The information and technology explosion that has taken place in the past two decades has resulted in the development of varied profiles across domains.

The basic aspects of talent management include strategic planning to acquire, develop and retain talent. The alignment of this strategy to the vision

and objectives is critical to achieving success.

The processes involved in talent management are cyclic in nature. The different aspects of the talent management cycle are below:

- Acquire, the initial aspect of talent management involves analysis of the skills that are required and identifying the skills that are existent within the system. This is followed by acquiring the skills needed.

- Develop, this aspect deals with the development of talent within the design, and effective use of technology enabled learning solutions that are tailored to the skills mapped.

- Retain, the most critical aspect of talent

management. Sustain the cycle by monitoring performance and rewarding the talent to maintain motivation.
