THE 3 BENEFITS OF

COLUMN - Executive Talk

Training your employees is more important than ever. Indeed, training and learning opportunities have been known as a way for companies to help their employees grow and develop their careers.

By investing in the success of its employees, a company builds a workforce that is more loyal to the business, more apt and satisfied, which in turn cuts costs by reducing both absenteeism and turnover rates.

In this article, the experts at Bayt.com, the Middle East’s leading job site, outline three little-known benefits of providing training for your employees:

1. Training bonds employees to your company

Employees who are encouraged to develop their skills are generally more satisfied and positive in their job; they are more loyal and stay with their organization longer. Training also decreases the occurrence of work-related stress and improves employees’ morale.

By investing in their training, employees often feel that the employer not only has the confidence in them to do their job, but that the company values them, and is giving something back above and beyond wages or salary. As a result, employees will become self-starters and develop further competencies, such as leadership and team building, and be more willing to undertake further training.

2.Training helps in hiring better quality candidates

A supportive environment where employees are trained and valued attracts the best talents. In fact, the Bayt.com ‘What Makes a Company an Attractive Place to Work?’ poll, February 2014, reveals that seven in 10 professionals in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region want to work for a company that offers career growth prospects and provides training opportunities. Offering these conditions to your employees will not only help you attract the best talents, but also retain them.

Opportunities for career growth are also considered by 59% of respondents in the Bayt.com Career Aspirations in the MENA survey, January 2015, as one of the two factors that are seen as most important when selecting an ideal job. The same survey reveals that the main reason for seeking employment in the region is to consistently learn and gain experience (as stated by 72% of respondents).
