TRACES SPRING 2017 | Page 81

His performance was outstanding, the problem is he only got about five to ten minutes of screen time, when he should have been a bigger part of the movie because of how much he prepared for it and how great his performance is. In the comics The Joker is some what mentally abusive to Harley Quinn which is a problem to some people. That however is The Joker’s character because he is psychotic and not mentally well so that could never change anyway. The directors did change that part a little bit as The Joker is extremely loving and infatuated with her, while jumping through hoops to save harley while still being his normal psychotic self. The Joker is a crazy psychopath which makes for such an interesting and unique character that he is the best element in this movie. Will Smith plays Deadshot and extremely well, I might add. All of his lines are so witty and funny that he is a big factor in the comedy aspect which enhances the movie because who doesn’t like comedy? The father-daughter dynamic is so heartwarming and will bring you to tears as in prison he can not see his daughter. Deadshot was definitely the one with the biggest heart in the bunch because of the love for his daughter and just his personality in general. The character Boomerang who is played by Jai Courtney, also is extremely funny and will definitely make you laugh out loud with his weirdness and general humor. The characters were the living being of Suicide Squad, but what about the plot and conflict? Unfortunately the plot did fall pretty flat as the movie just didn’t flow well as a whole and was choppy at times. The conflict could have been something different that could have definitely made the movie connect and flow better as a whole. There is a possible reason for the choppy plot as DC was pressuring the director to get the movie out in 2016, so therefore it was rushed. Now even though that there was a possible reason doesn’t mean it couldn’t have been better. Overall the movie fell flat as far as the plot aspect goes, however the characters and dialogue make the movie worthwhile to watch and love. The characters were absolutely amazing and the plot wasn’t too bad but could have been better so it was definitely a winner and I highly recommend you go see this movie as it is definitely worth your money.
