Thoughts

The world around me sings

While I am lost in thought

My name is being said

I look but I am lost

Only words come out her mouth

The sounds are drowned within

The thoughts consume me

My mind wrapped around one thing

Consumed, so consumed

Thoughts flowing through my veins

Down to my fingers a jolt of electricity

A tingling sensation

What is this odd sensation?

I

At night I hear it creeping, at night I feel it move

No time for goodbye he said as he faded away

Leave the lost and dead behind

Our time is running out

II

This house is not our home

I’ll never sleep here anymore

In this land of make-believe

We try to just stay alive

III

Living in a world so cold

Take yourself to higher places

Can nobody save us?

If I go I can only hope that I make it to the other side

IV

God bless us everyone we’re a broken people living under loaded gun

Does anyone care?

I’m bearing her cross; she’s turned into my curse

Upon which we rely

V

What about now?

What do we stand for when we all live in fear?

And even though it’s bittersweet and brings us to our knees

If you find your family, don’t you cry

VI

She stands at the shoreline, with hands in the air

Christopher I think I see the bay

Stand up, are you ready for this?

Right here! Right here!

VII

You’d said we’d never get this far

Like memories in cold decay

Now that we’re here

I said amen, amen
