The songs that are vastly overplayed on the radio like Maroon 5’s “One More Night” and Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite” have an uncanny ability to replay themselves over and over again in our minds. Typically, those songs will stay on repeat until another chart-topper hits the airwaves, and then the cycle repeats.

On the rare occasion, there are some really well-written chart-toppers that people can relate to, making great and deserving hits. The ones that connect with people the most are often the ones that the singer wrote themselves and, consequently, the ones that people remember fondly.

The one thing that we always hear people say in this world is “I just don’t want to be the only one,” or some variation of that. In that mindset, should someone hear a song that they can really connect with, the train has derailed and the world seems a brighter place. Yes, it may sound crazy, and yes, it may sound cliche, but people like to know that they’re not alone, and truly, that is everyone’s goal in life: to find that small thread of hope that someone out there feels the same.

This statement is, ironically, relatable to every aspect of life, especially when it comes to music.
