TRACES Spring 2013 | Page 12

The Screaming is Over…

Euphoria only bleeds so deep,

the night you said goodbye...

I no longer scream from monsters in my sleep,

as I deserve to die.

How traumatic the nights grew,

what a dirty job.

To kill a girl with much ado...

a girl who did no wrong.

Days of regret multiplied,

as days of smiles dwindled,

Perhaps it was God's cruel supply,

replenished by an emotional fiddle.

Looking down...

I find myself, hiding in my pain.

Drowning from my mind's sound,

Yet thriving in the rain.

Where have you gone?

Frustrated wails of an empty girl...

My heart to you was a useless pawn,

heads thrash yet minds prevail...

Could I take another hurt?

Will my wrists stay clean?

I guess this is all I'm worth,

I guess I deserve to bleed.
