TOWN OF JUPITER TOWN OF JUPITER RECREATION PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES RECREATION CONNECTION REC CONNECT Jupiter Community Center • 200 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458 VOL 26 NO 1 • JAN-MAR 2019 NOTE FROM DIRECTOR INSIDE THIS ISSUE... Happy New Year! Have you heard the word? Jupiter Jubilee is moving to a new location in 2019! Jupiter’s biggest hometown celebration is making the move to Abacoa Community Park while construction of our new police department, IT data center, and Veteran’s Memorial is underway at the Municipal Complex. We will celebrate the 17th year of the Jubilee in the Abacoa neighborhood at one of Jupiter’s most beautiful parks. The layout and amenities at Abacoa Community Park will allow us to expand on some of the most popular portions of the event including the Kid’s Fun Zone and add new features like a food truck court. Please note that all parking will be off-site in surrounding parking lots with shuttles to bring you to and from the event throughout the day. Be sure to check the Town’s website (www.jupiter.fl.us/jubilee) for specific parking locations as well as a schedule of events for the day. Jupiter’s beautiful February weather is also the perfect time of year to walk or bike to the event. It’s sure to be a fabulous time once again in 2019, and I look forward to seeing you there! Speaking of our fantastic winter weather, why not take advantage of some new outdoor amenities in the Town? Jupiter’s newest park, Cinquez Park, is a beautiful open space property on Indiantown Road and Carver Avenue with a dedicated dog park where dogs of all sizes can run and play in designated fenced dog pens. The dog park even has its own Facebook page (www.facebook.com/CinquezParkDogPark) where a Cinquez Park Dog of the Week is chosen each week. Not only is the park a great social opportunity for your pooch, but for residents as well. Be on the lookout for events coming to the dog park in 2019. These self- contained libraries offer a book exchange opportunity with the “take a book, return a book” philosophy, and help to promote literacy for both children and adults. Keep an eye out for these beautiful libraries while on your morning walk, and don’t forget to leave a book if you can. We’re also accepting book donations at the Jupiter Community Center to build a large library from which our neighborhood stewards can stock the Little Free Libraries. During the family use hours at the parks, residents are invited to use the specified fields for recreational sports with friends and family. The schedule for family use hours (which can be found online at www.jupiter.fl.us/family-use-hours) shows which fields are open for public use and when, and they will be updated seasonally based on sports and recreation league schedules. Because the designated times and fields change throughout the year, please be sure to check the online schedule periodically. Please keep in mind that the Town of Jupiter reserves the right to close fields at any time due to weather, excessive wear and tear of fields, and unexpected maintenance. Follow Us: @TownofJupiterandPolice The Town asks that residents who wish to utilize the fields during the family use times follow some simple rules that are in place to maintain a safe environment and protect the integrity of the fields: 1. Family use will only be allowed during the scheduled dates and times. 2. Recreational activities must be sport-specific to the field being used. 3. Organized activities such as formal games or practices, training sessions or private lessons are not permitted for family use hours. 4. Golfing is not allowed on the fields. 5.
