NOTE FROM DIRECTOR
INSIDE THIS ISSUE...
Happy 2018! With the holiday season behind us, the new year often brings
with it many resolutions for our personal and professional improvement. How
many of us have started the year with goals to lose weight, eat less, exercise
more, clean out the closets, only to be derailed by the second week of effort?
Studies have shown that the most common reasons for people not keeping
their New Year's resolutions are setting unrealistic goals for themselves, failing
to keep track of their progress, or just completely forgetting about their goals
altogether. Perhaps a more realistic resolution to start the year with would be
to try one new activity every month. The activity opportunities are endless
here in Jupiter and could include something as simple as just getting outside more often. This is the
time of year for which many of us transplants moved to Florida and it seems only fitting that we take
advantage of the beautiful weather that winter and spring brings us.

The Town offers a wide variety of free and low-cost activities for people of all ages, and the winter and
spring seasons are such a fun time of year for Recreation staff to plan our programs. How about taking
the dog for a walk to the new dog park in Cinquez Park (opening in spring of 2018), or getting in a short
workout on the outdoor exercise equipment at Indian Creek Park or the Jupiter Community Center? Our
Family Movie Night series is underway at Abacoa Community Park, and who could forget the upcoming
Jupiter Jubilee on February 3rd where we celebrate and showcase all things Jupiter.
SENIOR PROGRAMS.................................... 4
So in 2018, get off the couch, get outside and try something new! Often times people forget about the
numerous free recreational opportunities the Town offers, so set yourself up for success this year by
trying something new every month. I look forward to seeing you all at the Jupiter Community Center
or out and about in our parks and open spaces. Happy New Year!
