The Town of Jupiter will be hosting two public meetings in January to discuss the Town ’ s Community Development Block Grant ( CDBG ) Program and to solicit input on the proposed program from residents . At these meetings , representatives from the Town will also provide training on the Fair Housing Act . The 2018 meetings will be held on January 25th at 11 am and 6 pm at the Jupiter Community Center ( 200 Military Trail ) in Meeting Room B .
Each year , Jupiter participates in the CDBG program as a recipient of federal funds from the U . S . Department of Housing and Urban Development . The Town receives approximately $ 260,000 of CDBG funds annually , which is used to address community development and housing needs within the municipal limits of the Town . The overall goal of the program is to facilitate decent housing , a suitable living environment , and expanded economic development opportunities principally for low- and moderate- income persons .

Through the Association Officer and Director Certification course , Town of Jupiter residents can fulfill State of Florida requirements associated with the Homeowners ’ Association Act and the Condominium Act , which require officers and directors to complete a certification . This program is for current or future association volunteers , or those who simply seek a better understanding of how their condominium or homeowners ’ association should operate . Participants will receive valuable information regarding how associations are regulated and governed . The presentation will include practical tips on legal requirements for budgeting , reserves , elections , financial reporting , general operations , records maintenance , and dispute resolution . Jupiter Police Department Annual Soccer Tournament
The Jupiter Police Department will host its 6th Annual Soccer Tournament on Saturday , March 17th at the Jupiter Community Park . This soccer tournament is held in partnership with El Sol , Jupiter ' s Neighborhood Resource Center . While the soccer tournament showcases some pretty talented players , there is also plenty of fun for kids and families to enjoy throughout the day . Busch Wildlife , Palm Beach Fire & Rescue , and the Jupiter Police K9 Unit will each put on an entertaining and educating demonstration , and there will be face-painting , balloon animals , and a bounce house for the kids . Remember to bring your appetite , and enjoy some tasty treats as you watch the soccer teams duke it out . Plan to bring your friends and family !
The annual soccer tournament is an initiative of the Jupiter Police Department to create an avenue for interaction between the community and the Police in a safe , fun environment . Coming Soon to a Neighborhood Near You : Little Free Libraries !
The Town ' s Recreation and Neighborhood Services Departments have recently purchased several Little Free Libraries to be placed in neighborhoods within the Town of Jupiter . Little Free Libraries offer a book exchange opportunity with the “ take a book , return a book ” philosophy , and help to promote literacy for children through adulthood . Through these libraries , millions of books are exchanged each year , profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds .
A non-profit organization , Little Free Library helps to inspire a love of reading , builds community and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world . Members of the Town ’ s Art Committee will be working with the Town to design and paint the libraries , which will be placed in specific areas throughout Jupiter like the Community Center , El Sol , Pine Gardens North and South , Indian Creek Park and several other locations . The Town will eventually be seeking neighborhood stewards as caretakers who will assist with ensuring the libraries remain stocked with appropriate materials , promote the libraries in the surrounding areas , and make sure they are clean and inviting . Stay tuned to the Town ’ s website and social media outlets for more information on these rewarding and inspiring libraries coming to our neighborhoods this winter !

Each year , the Town of Jupiter awards Neighborhood Enhancement Grants to eligible projects submitted by neighborhoods in our community . Each grant award can be as much as $ 5,000 , and can go towards things like entrance signs , landscaping , lighting , security cameras , and exterior painting - projects that enhance the look and value of the neighborhood . Neighborhoods are required to provide a 50 % match to the awarded funding , and project proposals must come from the neighborhood residents and its association . Last year , over $ 100,000 in community enhancement projects were accomplished with the Town ' s $ 36,626 grant contribution to ten different neighborhoods .
The application for this year ' s Neighborhood Grant Program will be available online beginning the first week of February . The submission deadline for grant applications is March 16 , 2018 . If you are interested in participating in the program , please plan to attend a workshop to discuss the grant criteria on February 8 , 2018 at 6:00 pm at the Jupiter Community Center . Communities who send at least one representative to the workshop will receive an additional 10 points towards their application . HOA property managers representing a community will NOT receive the bonus points .
Communities that were awarded a Neighborhood Enhancement Grant within the previous three years ( 2015- 2017 ) are not eligible to apply in 2018 . A combination of cash and in-kind support will be accepted as the community match ; the maximum in-kind contribution for the community ’ s portion of the match is 50 %.
