Academic Trek

Certificate in International Tourism Development in Panama

A new Certificate in International Tourism Development was celebrated from 20th to 26th February 2017, in the frame of an academic visit to Panama.

This certificate was offered to a group of 8th and 9th semester students, from the Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Management, and was imparted at the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencia y Tecnología–UMECIT, in Panama City.

During the academic activities, the students were able to learn different topics, such as challenges and opportunities of the Panama Canal, requirements to enroll a tourism company in Panama, and the economic impact of tourism in the country. In addition to this academic part, the students enjoyed a city tour around the Old City (Casco Antiguo) and one of the most important motivation that tourists from all the world has when visiting this destination: The Panama Canal.

The last day at UMECIT, the students from both universities (Unicolombo and UMECIT) shared some information about Panama and Colombia folklores. Some panamanian students wore typical costumes and others danced an indigenous dance.

Colombian students lived a great experience abroad, and enjoyed from the beginning to the end their visit to Panama. City.
