TOURISM TODAY

Once someone said that the key to build a better city it is citizen culture, and I totally agree. If we analyze the concept of citizen culture, we can define it as all that set of values, attitudes and minimum rules that we share with each of the members of our city and undoubtedly generates that sense of belonging to our city, helps us to generate collective knowledge, to progress, to facilitate coexistence and impels us to watch over the rights and duties of us as owners of our city. All these things are possible through education.

Our culture is full of distinctive, material and affective features that undoubtedly differentiate us from any other societies; we are enriched with many attractions that make Cartagena a desirable tourist destination. But what happens if all this is affected by lack of the famous culture of citizens? What happens if we lost all these customs? What happens if we don't apply all these rules of coexistence?

As professionals in Tourism, we have the labor and the responsibility to promote the construction of our citizen culture even at home, not only because it helps the healthy coexistence but also helps us to commit with our city in such a way that the child, the young people, adults and the old men feel capable of loving the city, to feeling pain for abuses that are commit in it and to substantially improving the place in which we live.

To do this, we add the task of transmitting this sense of belonging to the tourists who visit our city every day and they must perceive in us that disposition and pleasant attitude that will make them live an excellent experience.

In Cartagena, we have the wealth to recreate and inspire tourists to love Cartagena, but we need to advance in the development of service culture to generate good experiences in visitors and also to encourage between us the tolerance and respect that helps us to build our cultural citizen.
